Well, since Christmas, Coby has grown and grown. It has been quite noticeable to me that he has developed lots in the past couple of weeks. He seems to have filled out more and grown a bit – he certainly doesn’t look like a baby anymore. Whether that is a good thing or a bad thing, I don’t know!
Apart from the last few nights, he has been awful overnight again for weeks! Shouting and moaning and groaning lots. He literally shouts at Aaron in his sleep which makes Kelly and I jump, although doesn’t seem to wake Ben and Aaron up (lucky them!). He has been into our room on a few occasions recently as well, but I think it is all down to a growth spurt and that he just can’t turn his brain off overnight. He seems to be going over everything he has done during that day via dreams which are then causing him to be very restless. Hopefully, once he starts his preschool morning a week, he may settle down a bit.
His speech has come on amazingly as well recently. He can say lots of things and very clearly as well. Some of the things he comes out with, along with his facial expressions, are hilarious. We wonder where he has got these things from! Hopefully his forming of words will get even better at preschool when he is mixing with all the other children.
He still goes to playgroup with Kelly, although this is starting to get less and less now as all his little friends are that little bit older than him, which means they have started preschool already, so they aren’t at the playgroups anymore. Shame really, but he will still see them at Bumblebees.
In the last couple of weeks, we have noticed that he has started playing with toys quite independently whereas before he would always play with Aaron (mostly). Now he goes and gets some toys and sits down and plays with them. It is very cute to watch as he talks to them and you can see him thinking about what he is doing. He does still play with Aaron and Ben but can have quite a tantrum if he wants something that they are already playing with. He even resorts to hitting them and stamping his foot which we are trying to stop him from doing. The last thing we want is him hitting someone at preschool if they are playing with a toy he wants!
He is being quite fussy with food as well at the moment. Whenever you ask him what he wants, he usually says ‘pizza’ and then proceeds to leave most of it, especially if it is a baguette pizza (he leaves the base and eats the top). His other favourite is beans and he does like Turkey Dinosaurs. If you give him anything much else, apart from carrots actually, he mostly turns his nose up at it, which can be very frustrating! When he was a baby, he used to eat everything and anything without any fuss! Saying that, Aaron and Ben used to be the same at Coby’s age and now they are dustbins that eat just about anything!
Anyway, Coby is doing really well but growing way too quickly for my liking.
