At the beginning of March, we had lots of snow! Much more than we did in half term and it caused the school to close for 2 1/2 days, so the boys were very happy! It had been forecast as well and we had a good amount, although not as much as other places in the South West.
It started on a Wednesday morning with blizzards and the school decided to shut at midday, as the forecast said that it was only going to get worse. Kelly was at Crownhill Garden Centre with some of the other mum’s so they had to rush back earlier, as she had to get Coby from pre-school as well. At this point, the snow had settled and everywhere was white. It was lovely! Whilst Kelly picked the boys up, I went for a walk around the Science Park in the snow and it was awesome. The boys and Kelly went out in the snow in the afternoon and then met me at Tesco, as I walked home from work. We had a walking detour around the park to make the most of the snow as we didn’t know if it would last or continue, as you never know with the weather forecast in Plymouth! It was good fun anyway, and we all enjoyed it and threw a few snowballs and the boys made some snow angels! 😉
The School messaged again in the morning to say it was closing for the rest of the week as we had more snow overnight and the rest of the country was covered as well. So I worked from home as well and started bright and early so I could finish in a good time so we could go out in it. Kelly and the boys ended up going sledging in the fields around us with some of the boys friends who managed to drive over as the roads weren’t to bad at this point. They then all went to one of their friend’s house who have a slope in the garden as it was way too cold in the fields. So Kelly and the boys all went off for a couple of hours whilst I finished my work. Whilst they were gone, the snow started to come down heavily, which was great, so just as they were coming home before it got too bad, I went for a walk to take some pictures. It was like a wonderland as it was white everywhere but absolutely freezing and the frozen snow was coming down horizontally in the fields which stung your face!
We all went out for another walk in the evening, which was good fun. The weather was so bad that all of the local shops had closed early, including Tesco, and the roads were mostly deserted, as they were under several centimetres of snow. We were quite cold by the time we got home but had all enjoyed the snowy walk. Ben, Coby and myself even went out the back and made a snow castle before we finally went in for the night! 😉
The following day, I worked from home again and started early to finish early. So by 4pm, we were all in the fields with the body board sledging and having lots of fun. We all had several goes riding on it until we were tired out! We then had a last walk around the field and a snowball fight at the top of the woods next to our house, as there were drifts of about 3 foot there, until Aaron and Coby got snow down their necks and started crying as it was so cold! 😉 So we made our way home after being out having fun for nearly 90 minutes!
By Saturday morning, the snow was starting to melt, and by the afternoon it was nearly all gone, which was a shame. We hadn’t had this much snow for a long time and Coby loved it! At least we all had some fun in it whilst the boys were still young!
