Plymouth Kolts League Games and Friendly

Coby was able to start up training with Plymouth Kolts again at the end of September and finally played some proper matches!!

His first match was a friendly, early on a Sunday morning at Goals against Inter City, which just happened to be a team of his friends from school.  They lost 16-4 unfortunately, but Coby did score a hat trick!!  So he managed to get £5 out of me for that! haha The score didn’t really reflect how the game went as we used loads of our subs and the other team basically stuck with the same players so were able to get to a level and stay at it.  We had a very wide range of skilled players playing so it was quite a bit disjointed from Kolts.  Coby, and the other children, really enjoyed the game though!

He had his first proper league games on the 17th October (my 40th birthday) and at the same time as Ben was playing a match.  So this meant we had to split ourselves and I went with Ben and Kelly and Aaron went with Coby.  Ben was at home at Widewell and Coby was at Plymstock School, so opposite ends of Plymouth.  Not sure how it will work going forward but that is something to worry about at a later date!  Anyway, Coby had two games, 24 mins each, and they won one 3-1 and lost one 6-2.  Coby didn’t score any goals this time but again, he said that he really enjoyed it, especially as he won Man of the Match!!!  Well done, Coby.

Unfortunately, he only had a couple more training sessions before lockdown 2 kicked in and all football was cancelled again from the 5th November until the 3rd December.  There was time to play football again after that and before Christmas but, due to the new restrictions in place at GOALS whereby spectators were told that they weren’t allowed inside and Plymstock School were not allowing external matches, it was decided to postpone any football for Coby’s team until the New Year.  Bit of a shame as Coby was desperate to play again, but we were certainly not leaving Coby inside GOALS without supervision from us, and a lot of other parents felt the same!  Hopefully, things will be a bit more settled in the New Year, especially as a vaccine is now in place!
