Coby has now played 2 matches for his Plymouth Kolts team and he has enjoyed them both. The first match was against AFC Plympton at Goals a few weeks ago. For their age group, they do four 10 minute quarters with a couple of minutes break between them. They then mix their positions up for each quarter so Coby played in various positions including Goalkeeper. They also had 2 rolling subs for the first game and were doing well until half way through when they started getting tired and they ended up losing 9-4 although Coby did score a goal! 😉 Apparently, AFC Plympton had played a few games already and you could tell as the match progressed as they new a bit more of how to play a match compared to our lot.
The second games was against ELM Utd, two weeks ago. This was meant to be played at Goals as well but due to the horrendous weather, the match was moved to Ernesettle Futsol Hall, which was better for spectators to view the game. The ELM players seemed much bigger than Kolts but we absolutely hammered them 16-2!! Coby scored another goal and played really well, although he could have tackled a bit better and concentrated more! haha But he did very well until in the final quarter he slipped over and whacked his cheek on the floor so came off crying. He had a large red mark on his cheek and a bit of a lump so it must have been a heavy whack! So he didn’t finish off the final quarter which was a shame as he started as sub in it as well so only got a few minutes. However, Dave (the coach) then put him in goal for a penalty shootout at the end. Coby was excellent and saved 2 or 3 penalties with 2 others hitting the post! So this meant he was awarded the Kolts Man Of The Match trophy by Dave until the next game. He was extremely chuffed with that as you can imagine and it made up for the bruise on his cheek! The whole team played much better in this game and were 3-0 up within the first minute…haha. Hopefully they can keep it up into the next game as they have the makings of a good little team!
